Box Canyon

Let me start by saying what an adventure! Seriously. One of the young women's leaders called me Friday night to see if I could drive and go on the hike with the young women. They were short adults. If I couldn't go they would have to cancel the whole thing. (There was 12 girls looking forward to this hike.) Bailey, had 3 of the girls spending the night at our house, because they all need a ride to the church in the morning. I asked how hard the hike was. She said it was about 1/4 of mile to the water, and we had to walk through water. Sounds easy enough to me, so I said I would go. NEVER again will I go hiking there again. You do not walk through water, you SWIM through water fully dressed. Go down stream was okay. Until you hit rocks under the water with your shins. I have more bruises up and down my legs. Plus there are waterfalls you have to go down. My back has bruises from that. I even have bruises where I didn't think you could bruise. Going back up stream was HARD. You had to climb back up the waterfalls. I thought the were going have to call for help to get me out of the canyon. This not a hike to take if you are not in shape. (Which I'm not.) I can hardly move today. On the bright side, the girls had fun, and they had to use team work to help pull each other out of the canyon. Actually they had no choice, but use team work. One have the men we brought on the hike to pull the girls out of the canyon, broke his ankle. Yes. on the hike. I wish I had pictures, but I couldn't take my camera, since it was a swimming, rock climbing hike. I'm so glad to be home.
